TUI Cruises Announces Godmother and Christening of Newest Ship

TUI Cruises, a joint venture between TUI Group and Royal Caribbean Cruises, announced the godmother and the christening of its newest ship, Mein Schiff 7, which is currently in the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland completing her final outfitting stage.

Mein Schiff 7’s christening will be held during a 2-day voyage setting sail from Kiel, Germany on June 21, 2024. The naming ceremony is scheduled for June 22, 2024 while the ship is in the Bay of Kiel.

“After the christening of the Mein Schiff 4 in 2015, we consciously decided to have a christening in the Bay of Kiel again, because it is the perfect place to start wonderful journeys north and discover seventh heaven at sea. And this is exactly what we are inviting the guests of Mein Schiff 7 to do from June,” said Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.

Additionally, TUI Cruises announced Environmental Officer Fenia Kalachani as godmother of Mein Schiff 7. Kalanchani has served as environmental officer for the Mein Schiff fleet since 2022 and is responsible for the fleet’s implementation and compliance with all environmental regulations. Choosing Kalanchani as the ship’s godmother further solidifies the cruise line’s commitment to the environment and sustainability.

Kalachani said, “As an environmental officer, I am pleased to be able to contribute to ensuring that our guests experience how seriously we take environmental protection and the responsible and sustainable use of resources onboard. It is a particularly great honor for me that I am now the godmother for the Mein Schiff 7 – on behalf of the entire Mein Schiff crew. This sister ship of Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2 is a good example of how innovative cruises can be in the areas of the environment and sustainability.”

Mein Schiff 7 is similar to her structurally identical sister ships, Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2. She will feature environmentally friendly cruising with her use of lower-emission marine diesel, as well as be equipped with catalytic converters and shore power connection. Additionally, she is outfitted with an innovative organic waste shredding system that uses thermal treatment to process it for use on land.

Her 2,896 guests will be able to choose from a variety of accommodations and choose from 12 different restaurants and bistros and 17 bars and lounges. Guests can indulge in retail shopping including everything from skincare and cosmetics to jewelry and clothing. The ship will feature a running track, a gym and spa sling with a sports court and climbing wall. Her 12th deck will hold an outdoor pool, while the sun deck will be found at the top deck.

When Mein Schiff 7 returns to Kiel from her christening voyage on June 23, 2024, debarking guests will be able to enjoy the Kiel Week festival which is being held from June 22nd to June 30th. The festival is the biggest summer festival in the north of Europe and biggest sailing event in the world.

Mein Schiff 7 will sail her inaugural season in the Baltic region, and the Norwegian Fjords and Arctic Circle. Her debut voyage will be a 14-day round trip itinerary departing Kiel, Germany on June 23, 2024.
