Royal Caribbean Reveals Name of New Icon Class Ship

Just three months from the debut of Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International has announced the name of its next Icon class ship debuting the summer of 2025—Star of the Seas.

Currently under construction in Turku, Finland, not much is known about the new ship and its features. We do know Star of the Seas will be about the same size as her sister ship, Icon of the Seas, which is a 20-deck ship with 2,805 staterooms and a capacity for 5,610 cruisers at double occupancy

Star of the Seas will likely also look very similar to her sister ship Icon of the Seas. Some highlights of Icon of the Seas include seven pools and six water slides, Central Park, Surfside, Aquadome, Thrill Island, Chill Island, and Hideaway. There are also 40 ways to drink and dine along with entertainment across air, ice, water and stage.

“The idea of combining the best of every type of vacation into one ultimate adventure has created more excitement than ever anticipated, and Star of the Seas will be the next bold answer to the record-breaking consumer demand we’ve seen for nearly a year and counting with Icon of the Seas,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.

The anticipation of the Icon class Icon of the Seas led to the cruise line’s single largest booking day and highest volume booking week in its 53-year history. The never before seen demand also prompted Royal Caribbean to open 2025-2026 booking onboard Icon of the Seas three months early and to announce Star of the Seas and her debut.

Star of the Seas will also be the third Royal Caribbean ship powered by liquified natural gas. She will combine the use of the cleanest-burning marine fuel with industry-leading environmental programs making Star of the Seas the cruise line’s most sustainable ship.
