Royal Caribbean International has canceled the inaugural sailing of its new Icon-class Star of the Seas which is currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
Star of the Seas was originally set to debut on August 17, 2025, but that has now been pushed back to August 31, 2025.
The cruise line said, “While we’re working hard on completing our newest Icon Class ship, the Star of the Seas, and after a review of the work that remains to be done, we’re unfortunately forced to delay the ship’s delivery date.”
The ship’s inaugural sailing, a 7-night Eastern Caribbean & Perfect Day itinerary, was set to depart on August 17, 2025 from Port Canaveral and visit St. Thomas and St. Kitts as well as CocoCay. The second cruise, also an Eastern Caribbean itinerary, was set to depart from Port Canaveral on August 25, 2025 and call on CocoCay, San Juan, and St. Maarten. Both of these sailings have been canceled.
The ship’s new inaugural sailing is now set to depart on August 31, 2025 and sail a 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary. Guests aboard Star of the Seas will depart from Port Canaveral and visit Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas, Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Roatan in Honduras.
Guests booked on either of the two canceled cruises need to contact Royal Caribbean or their travel agent to make alternate arrangements. One option is for guests to transfer their booking to the August 31, 2025 inaugural cruise. A second option is to move their booking to an alternate Star of the Seas sailing or any other Royal Caribbean ship. Lastly, guests can choose to cancel their booking for a full refund.
Once she enters service, the LNG powered Star of the Seas will sail from Port Canaveral year-round and offer 7-night alternating cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
