Royal Caribbean is making major deployment changes to its Port of Galveston lineup beginning in 2027. The cruise line will shift Symphony of the Seas from Galveston to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she will offer 6- and 8-night Caribbean cruises.
A Royal Caribbean spokesperson said in a statement, “This repositioning allows us to continue delivering the incredible experiences guests love while thoughtfully evolving our deployment strategy.”
Royal Caribbean confirmed that Icon of the Seas will still deploy from Galveston beginning August 2027 and offer 7-night Caribbean itineraries. Liberty of the Seas will arrive in Texas at the end of October 2026, and offer 4- and 5-night itineraries. This lineup will give travelers various options when sailing from the Port of Galveston.
“Royal Caribbean’s longstanding commitment to Texas remains strong,” the company added. “Galveston remains a key homeport for us, with Icon of the Seas, offering seven-night vacations, and Liberty of the Seas, now offering four- and five-night sailings, all from Texas in 2027—giving vacationers in Texas the opportunity to experience the industry-leading Icon Class for the first time while enjoying unforgettable Caribbean adventures. We look forward to offering guests sailing from Galveston exciting itinerary options and innovative ships for years to come.”
While the cruise line has not released the exact date of redeployment for Symphony of the Seas, the company did say sailings will not be canceled, and guests and travel advisors would be contacted directly with information.
From Galveston, Icon of the Seas will offer 6-day Western Caribbean itineraries that will call on Perfect Day Mexico: Roatan, Honduras; and Cozumel, Mexico, as well as 8-day Western Caribbean itineraries that will call on Perfect Day at CocoCay instead of Roatan. Liberty of the Seas 4-day Western Caribbean itineraries will call on Cozumel, Mexico, while her 5-day Western Caribbean itineraries will add Perfect Day Mexico to the sailing.
