Royal Caribbean Announces Wishes at Sea Program

Royal Caribbean International announced a multi-year partnership with Make-a-Wish to make life-changing memories for children with critical illnesses.

The world’s largest cruise line will support Make-a-Wish through its “Wishes at Sea” program. The cruise line will provide support to Make-a-Wish’s fundraising efforts through raising donations online and onboard, hosting events like Walk for Wishes 5K, walkathons and auctions.

“The memories we make with our families and friends on vacation are among the moments that are the most special and impactful, and for wish kids and their families, that very impact can change the course of their lives,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “We are thrilled and humbled to partner with Make-A-Wish for years to come. In this partnership, we are in a position to do what we love – delivering memorable vacations – while making a difference in the lives of those at the heart of Royal Caribbean, families that need it most.”

Royal Caribbean International will also provide life-changing memories as the cruise line grants wishes around the world. Wishes will come to life through specifically planned Royal Caribbean getaways. Wish kids and their families will enjoy experiences at Perfect Day at CocoCay including the most thrilling waterpark in the Caribbean and The Bahamas, a private cabana and a ride in the Up, Up & Away helium balloon. Additionally, guests will receive VIP treatment, exclusive experiences, free WiFi, and more.

“As we celebrate World Wish Month, we are grateful to partner with Royal Caribbean International and open a sea of new opportunities for us to fulfill our mission of granting life-changing wishes,” said Leslie Motter, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish America. “We know that a wish can chart a new course in these children’s lives, and we look forward to having the opportunity to work together to deliver that life-changing impact.”

It is only fitting the partnership is announced during World Wish Month which celebrates the very first wish ever granted in 1980. Christopher James Greicius was an energetic 7-year old boy battling leukemia who wished to be a police officer. Since that day Make-a-Wish has granted more than 585,000 wishes in more than 50 countries across 6 continents.
