Norwegian Cruise Line Offering More Staterooms to Solo Cruisers

In an effort to embrace the solo cruise traveler, Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that it will rebrand nearly 1,000 staterooms as dedicated solo cabins.

Beginning this week and on a rolling basis, three new solo stateroom categories will open for bookings across the cruise line’s 19-ship fleet. The three solo stateroom categories, Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview, and Solo Balcony, were created in response to data showing the solo traveler population is continuing to grow. The available bookings are for future sailings beginning January 2, 2024.

President of Norwegian Cruise, David J. Herrera stated, “We strive to provide our guests with diverse offerings to create their dream vacation. Since we first launched our solo staterooms in 2010 with Norwegian Epic, they have been quite popular with single travelers. We are continuously listening to our guests to deliver the experience they want. After realizing the growing demand of individuals looking to travel on their own, we have now expanded single occupancy staterooms across our fleet.”

On select ships, guests who choose to travel solo in the new stateroom categories will have access to the key card entry only Studio Lounge.  The Studio Lounge offers a dedicated bar, lounge area, and snacks served daily. Solo cruisers will also have the opportunity to enjoy mix and mingle activities tailored to single travelers.

Currently, solo staterooms are available aboard nine ships including the cruise line’s newest ship, Norwegian Viva. With the expansion of these solo staterooms to the full fleet, solo cruisers will have the opportunity to visit a wider variety of destinations.

According to the cruise line, pricing and availability of the solo staterooms will be based on demand and destination. However, solo guests can expect to pay a lower booking price than when they have had to book a double occupancy stateroom.
