NCL Viva Debut Delayed Again

More Canceled Cruises for Norwegian

Citing global supply chain constraints, Norwegian Cruise Line is canceling six additional cruises aboard the new Norwegian Viva. The Viva is the sister ship of the new Norwegian Prima set to sail in Iceland later this month and the second of six ships within its Prima Class.

Norwegian Cruise Line has pushed the debut of the second Prima-class vessel to late August 2023. The ship was originally scheduled for its inaugural cruise in June 2023.

Norwegian issued this statement to its booked guests:

“Given the global supply chain constraints impacting industries worldwide, including the maritime industry, we must cancel Norwegian Viva’s sailings from July 3, 2023 through and including August 17, 2023.”

The canceled itineraries include those in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean. This is also where the Viva will be spending the majority of its maiden season.

Cruisers are being offered two options:

  • Cruisers are able to transfer their sailing to a comparable itinerary onboard the Norwegian Getaway at a 20% discount. They will receive an equivalent stateroom category and are able to keep all of their previously selected promotions, OR
  • Cruisers who choose not to transfer their reservation, may cancel and rebook at a later date.

No matter the choice, all guests are receiving a 10% discount on their next Norwegian voyage. This offer may be combined with all promotions available at time of booking and must be used towards departures between August 23, 2023 and December 3, 2024.

While this is the second time Norwegian has canceled cruises aboard the Viva citing construction delays, they are hopeful they will have their maiden voyage in late August 2023.

How about you? Were you set to sail on the Norwegian Viva in 2023?
