NCL Takes Delivery of Norwegian Viva

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) took delivery of its second Prima Class ship, Norwegian Viva, on August 3, 2023. 

Norwegian Viva is the second of what will be six Prima Class ships to debut through 2028. NCL continues to raise the bar in cruising the Norwegian Viva. The ship’s tagline “Live It Up” demonstrates the experience guests can look forward to while onboard. 

“Ships as stellar as those of the Prima Class are only possible in collaboration with an incredible shipyard like Fincantieri,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “Delivery marks an important milestone for Norwegian Viva, and we are beyond excited to bring this spectacular ship to life as we welcome guests aboard next week.” 

Thrill seeking guests aboard Norwegian Viva can enjoy the fastest slides at sea with The Drop and The Rush and the three-story Viva Speedway. The ship will also feature The Concourse, an outdoor seaside sculpture garden in Ocean Boulevard which boasts of a wrap-around boardwalk. The area will feature works from six artists that have previously been featured on other NCL ships. Evening performances will include the Tony Award nominated production of Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice” and “Press Your Luck Live” which offers guests an opportunity to participate in the popular game show and win prizes.

Norwegian Viva will sail her maiden voyage on August 10, 2023 and then sail a series of Mediterranean and Greek Isles itineraries. She will be christened in Miami on November 28, 2023 and be officially named by Luis Fonsi, Latin Grammy award-winning artist and godfather of the ship. Norwegian Viva will then homeport in San Juan, Puerto Rico from December 2023 through March 2024 and offer Caribbean sailings.
