NCL Takes Delivery of Norwegian Aqua

Thursday, March 13, 2025, Norwegian Cruise Line took delivery of Norwegian Aqua, the cruise line’s 20th ship in its award-winning fleet. She was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy and is the first of the cruise line’s new Prima Plus Class. The cruise line also celebrated the float out of its next Prima Plus Class ship, Norwegian Luna. She will now move to the dock Norwegian Aqua vacated for her interior fitting as she prepares to debut in spring 2026.

David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line said, “Norwegian Aqua is more than just a ship—it’s a commitment to our guests that we will continue to push boundaries and deliver MORE at sea. From thrilling attractions like the Aqua Slidecoaster to the debut of Sukhothai, our first Thai specialty restaurant, Norwegian Aqua is designed to create unforgettable moments for the whole family while cruising to the Caribbean, Bermuda and our private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay, where we remain focused and excited about investing in the guest experience.”

Herrera continued, “We are deeply grateful to Fincantieri for its partnership and expertise in bringing Norwegian Aqua to life, paving the way for NCL’s continued growth and success. And with Norwegian Luna’s float out, we’re already looking ahead to the next chapter of our fleet expansion.”

Norwegian Aqua is significantly different from her sister ships–Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. She is 10% larger in size and capacity. She delivers MORE–more space, more features, more thrills, more dining, more immersive activities–MORE. She features spacious staterooms, world-class entertainment, and can welcome 3,571 guests.

Norwegian Aqua offers several firsts including the debut of the Aqua Slidecoaster, the world’s first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide with breathtaking twists and views. Norwegian Aqua will feature the Aqua Game Zone complete with everything from retro arcade to virtual reality games. NCL’s first-ever Glow Court allows guests to enjoy their time at sea on an interactive LED floor playing games during the day and dancing in the club at night. Norwegian Aqua also showcases the largest 360-degree promenade–Ocean Boulevard.

Norwegian Aqua will sail a transatlantic journey from Southampton on March 28, 2025 arriving in the United States on April 4, 2025. She will be officially christened by her godfather, Eric Stonestreet, on April 13, 2025.
