Holland America is Ready to Sail to Japan

Japan is preparing to reopen to cruising, and Holland America Line is ready.

Japanese authorities announced earlier this month that they are finalizing health and safety protocols so they can open back up to cruise ships. It has been two and a half years but Holland America Line is prepared to once again offer extraordinary vacations to this part of the world.

“We’re grateful for the work that the Japanese authorities have done to allow for a return to cruising,” said Gus Antorcha, the president of Holland America Line.

“Holland America Line’s guests love longer voyages to unique parts of the world, and we’ll be sailing to some incredible locations as our season in Japan and the rest of Asia begins.”

Beginning February 2023, Holland America Line’s Westerdam will be offering diverse sailings that include visits to Yokohama, Kagoshima, Kochi, Osaka/Kobe, Shimizu, Tokushima, Ishgaki, and other amazing cities in Japan.

She will sail either 11 or 14-day round trip cruises from Yokohama, Japan or Singapore or one way cruises between Yokohama and Singapore. Five different itineraries, which include visits to the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, and Malaysia as well as the ports in Japan, offer cruisers the opportunity to explore many different exotic locations in this beautiful part of the world.

Westerdam’s first sailing is an 11-day voyage beginning February 3, 2023. She will depart Singapore and visit Phuket, Thailand, Port Blair, India, along with Porto Malai, Langhawi, Penang, Malacca and Port Kelang all in Malaysia before returning to Singapore.

Westerdam’s first sailing to Japan is a 14-day one way cruise that begins February 27,2023. It will depart from Singapore and visit the Philippines, Taiwan, and Ishigaki Island, Naha, Kochi, Japan before porting in Yokohama, Japan.

Westerdam will sail in Asia through April when she will begin her 14-day North Pacific Crossing to Seattle, Washington. She will begin the Alaska season from Seattle on May 7, 2023.

As always, stay in contact with your cruise line or travel agent for updates to health and safety protocols for your cruises.
