Royal Caribbean’s second Icon-class ship, Star of the Seas arrived in Port Canaveral, Florida, on Saturday, August 9, 2025. More than 2,000 Royal Caribbean team members were on hand to welcome the ship to its new homeport.
Beginning August 16, 2025, Star of the Seas will sail a series of 4-day round-trip Star Showcase Cruise to Perfect Day. However, before those begin, Royal Caribbean will host the traditional maritime naming ceremony. The ship’s godmother, Diana Ross, will headline the ceremony which includes a blessing on the ship, its crew and passengers. The ceremony will be held in the ship’s AquaTheater within the AquaDome.
As Star of the Seas begins sailing, Royal Caribbean is offering a new feature called “Find My Kid.” The Royal Caribbean website describes the feature like this:
“Find My Kid is a new feature in the Royal Caribbean® app that allows you to see the location of your kids onboard in some areas of the ship, like certain public areas and staterooms, through the app’s deck maps.”
The “Find My Kid” feature is intended for children between 3 and 12 years old, and allows parents to track their child in real time. Parents will register their child at the Adventure Ocean Kid’s Club located on Deck 6. Parents will need to purchase a colorful and waterproof Adventure WOW Band for $14.99 if they do not already own one. Once the parent has activated the Find My Kid feature in the app, the icon will appear in the app menu.
Parents will need to be sure to have the most updated version of the Royal Caribbean app, and connect to the ship’s WiFi network. Once the app is opened, parents can select the “Find My Kid” icon and see a live view of their child’s location. Parents can also give older siblings or other traveling companions the ability to the child.
WOW Bands are in use on other Royal Caribbean ships, but currently the “Find My Kid” feature is only available on Star of the Seas. WOW Bands can be used to unlock cabin doors and make parent-approved onboard purchases.
Star of the Seas will begin sailing alternating 7-day Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries on August 31, 2025.
