Disney Cruise Line Announces Name of New Ship

Over the weekend, Disney Cruise Line revealed the name of a new cruise ship as well as its new destination opening next summer.

Disney Cruise Line acquired the unfinished Global Dream from the Genting Hong group earlier this year before it filed for bankruptcy and announced they are renaming it Disney Adventure.

The ship, which is currently under construction at the MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany, will be the largest ship in the Disney fleet when she debuts in 2025. Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney Signature Experiences says this will be Disney Cruise Line’s, “biggest adventure yet.”

“Aboard the Adventure, the families will go on fantastical voyages across the sea experiencing Disney, Pixar, Marvel stories representing truly every corner of the Disney world and beyond, and that’s without ever leaving the ship,” Mazloum said.

Once completed and ready for service, Disney Adventure will head to Singapore and serve the Southeast Asia market. She will run on green methanol making her one of the first in the cruise industry to use the low-emission fuel.

Also announced was the update name for Disney Cruise Line’s second private Bahamian destinations—Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Previously referred to as Lighthouse Point, the new destination will begin welcoming guests in June 2024.

“Trust me when I tell you there’s some pretty awesome, great collaboration happening right now between our teams and some unbelievably talented artists and cultural advisors in the Bahamas,” Mazloum said. “Together we’re going to shape an experience that truly celebrates that natural beauty, the traditions, the artistry of this one-of-a-kind nation.”

Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will feature a main beach, family beach, an adults-only beach, and Arts and Cultural Pavilion, water area with two slides, gaming pavilion, marker-style dining, shopping and kids club.

Guests aboard Disney Magic sailing out of Port Everglades will be the first to visit the new private destination.  There are also two itineraries aboard Disney Fantasy out of Port Canaveral that include the new destination.
