Disney Adventure Departs for Sea Trials

Disney Cruise LIne’s Disney Adventure departed the Meyer Werft shipyard in Wismar, Germany, on Monday, September 1, 2025 for her sea trials. At 208,000 gross tons, the World Class ship is the largest ship ever built in Wismar, Germany, as well as the largest ship for Disney Cruise Line.

Construction of the ship began in 2018 for Genting Hong Kong’s Dream Cruises, Global One, and was named Global Dream. Disney Cruise Line purchased the ship in late 2022 after Genting Hong Kong filed for bankruptcy. The ship was reimagined with the Disney brand and experiences and renamed Disney Adventure

Tugboats assisted Disney Adventure as she made her way from the dock and into the harbor. Low water levels gave some concern, but with the ship’s funnels not yet installed along with some other items, she was able to safely make her way out of the harbor. She will stop in Mukran, Germany, to refill her water tanks and take on final supplies before beginning her sea trials in the North Sea. Once sea trials are complete, crews will complete the ship’s final outfitting before handing her over to Disney Cruise Line.

In April, Disney Cruise Line revealed that Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie would grace the stern of Disney Adventure, bringing the magic of Disney to Asia for the first time. Over the last year, the cruise has revealed numerous other details about Disney Adventure including her retail spaces, new experiences, themed areas, and more

Disney Adventure will welcome her first guests in December 2025 at her year-round Singapore homeport. Her 3-night maiden voyage will embark on December 15, 2025. Following her maiden voyage, Disney Adventure will sail 3-, 4-, and 5-night round trip voyages from Singapore. Each voyage is a “Magic at Sea” voyage and includes no port stops. These “cruises to nowhere” allow the more than 6,000 passengers to fully experience all the ship has to offer. Disney Adventure will sail from Singapore for at least five years.
