Cunard’s Queens to Celebrate Coronation

Carnival Corporation owned luxury British cruise line Cunard is marking the historical coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort. The Queens of Cunard, Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth all have once-in-a-lifetime programming, events and menus to celebrate the occasion taking place on Saturday, May 6.

The three Queens will be at sea on coronation day, but will be broadcasting the ceremony and festivities live from Westminster Abbey. Passengers may choose to watch in the ship’s Royal Court Theatre or their own stateroom.

Queen Victoria will be returning from a voyage around the Canary Islands, while Queen Elizabeth will be touring Japan and Taiwan. However, Queen Mary 2 will be sailing a special Coronation Celebration voyage just for the occasion. The round trip sailing began from Southampton on March 2.

On May 6, guests will be served a unique coronation dinner that features King Charles III’s favorite foods and his love for farming, agriculture, game and organic foods. In addition to a specialty dinner, guests will enjoy special cocktails to toast The King and The Queen Consort. One of those cocktails is the “Coronation Oath” made with Prosecco, White Vermouth, Grapefruit and Cardamom Bitters, while another is a “Monarch Martini” featuring Cunard’s 3 Queens Gin.

Special activities onboard all three ships include street parties in the Grand Lobby, special musical performances, films and quizzes. Guests will also be invited to participate in a deck walk out in honor of The Big Help Out on Monday, May 8. This will be a fundraising event for The Prince’s Trust. Cunard has partnered with the trust for the last 15 years since The Queen Consort became godmother to Queen Victoria in 2007. The Prince’s Trust is a charity which helps young people facing disadvantages and adversity.
