Cruise Ship Saturday?–NCL Jewel-Class

It’s Monday!

Cruise Ship Monday

Yes! I know it’s Saturday. No, I am not confused. I thought we would look back to 2025 as we ready ourselves for 2026 beginning Monday, so here is Cruise Ship Monday…on Saturday.

Today brings us Norwegian Cruise Line’s Jewel class–Norwegian Gem (2007), Norwegian Jade (2006), Norwegian Pearl (2006) and Norwegian Jewel (2005).

These four ships that make up Norwegian Cruise Line’s Jewel Class are very similar to the cruise line’s Dawn Class. While slightly larger than the Dawn Class, the four ships are considered mid-size ships weighing in about 93,500 tons with a passenger capacity around 2,400.

These sister-ships have the traditional amenities like basketball and volleyball courts, golf driving nets, large sun decks, large casinos, multiple main dining rooms, thermal spa and a toddler splash pool. Norwegian Gem has both a climbing wall and a water slide, Norwegian Pearl has just a climbing wall, and the two other ships have neither.

The four Jewel-class ships were the first to be outfitted with The Haven. The Haven is an exclusive cruise experience which offers exclusive amenities and the most luxurious accommodations. The space has its own courtyard, pool, restaurant and lounge.

Guests will not find Broadway shows in the theaters, but the entertainment is still world class. The Stardust Theater is home to Broadway Cabaret and Motor City Moves. Broadway Cabaret celebrates those classic and contemporary Broadway show tunes, while Motor City Moves celebrates the soulful sound of Detroit’s iconic Motown sound. Other entertainment includes game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Deal or No Deal, a card room where guests can play board games, and an arcade.

Each Jewel-class ship offers complimentary dining like the main dining rooms, the buffet, poolside grills and pizza, as well as speciality dining which comes with an extra cost. Each Jewel Class ship offers Cagney’s Steakhouse, La Cucina serving classic Italian cuisine,  and Le Bistro serving fine French cuisine. Norwegian Jade does not offer the Japanese hibachi-style Teppanyaki like her sister ships, but she does serve sushi at Jasmine Garden. Norwegian Pearl and Norwegian Jewel also offer the Brazilian steakhouse Moderno Churrascaria, as well as an Asian option, Lotus Garden onboard Norwegian Pearl and Chin Chin Asian onboard Norwegian Jewel

Norwegian Gem is currently sailing round trip Bahamas or Caribbean itineraries from Jacksonville, Florida. Norwegian Jade is offering 7-day round trip Mexican Riviera itineraries from San Diego. Lastly, Norwegian Pearl  and Norwegian Jewel are sailing from Miami, Florida, and offering itineraries of varying lengths including several themed and/or chartered cruises.
