Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest.
Let’s dive in!
This Monday brought us a bit of the origin and history of Disney Cruise Line. Tomorrow, we will dive into the cruise line’s Magic Class ships–Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.
This past week brought a powerful nor’easter that battered the East Coast stranding multiple ships and thousands of cruisers. Our own Tony and Jenny B were onboard Princess Cruises’ Enchanted Princess for the La Lido Group Cruise and spent some extra time in Boston to wait out the storm.
Holland America Line launched the first-ever at-sea lipstick blending bar. Individuals and groups of all ages can visit Blend Bar and create a signature lipstick or gloss from more than 30 premium pigments, four luxurious finishes and more than 20 signature flavors. Guests can currently create their wearable souvenir with the help of a professional consultant aboard Nieuw Statendam, Eurodam, Westerdam, Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, Volendam, and Zaandam. The experience will be available fleetwide by mid-November.
Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Xcel will debut next month with brand-new theater productions, club acts, music experiences, dance parties and endless entertainment. The ship will showcase three theater productions in The Theatre, two interactive shows in The Club, and four destination festivals in The Bazaar.
Royal Caribbean’s Royal Beach Club Paradise Island will be opening four days earlier than expected. Guests aboard the holiday sailings of Utopia of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas will be among the first paying visitors of the Beach Club on December 23, 2025.
PortMiami welcomed two new cruise ships to the region this past week. Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady sailed her official MerMaiden voyage in the Caribbean on Friday, October 17, 2025, while Cunard brought one of her “queens” to the region for the first time in its history. The newly refreshed Queen Elizabeth will homeport in Miami through April 2026.
