Cruise News Digest–November 23, 2025

Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest.

Let’s dive in!

This Monday, we looked at the history of Norwegian Cruise Line. Tomorrow, we will begin exploring each class of Norwegian ship.

The cruise industry continues to grow as evidenced by four brand new cruise ships having been christened in November alone. Three of the four ships–Star Princess, Disney Destiny, and Celebrity Xcel–are homeporting from Fort Lauderdale, while Oceania Allura is homeporting from Miami for the winter season.

U.S. News & World Report released their 12th annual Best Cruise Line Rankings. 19 cruise lines were ranked in ten categories including four new categories–Best for Solo Travelers, Best for Wellness, Best in Mainstream Dining, and Best in Luxury Dining.

Holland America Line is offering longer itineraries and new overnight stays for its 2027-28 Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific season. Between September 2027 and March 2028, Holland America will offer various 14- to 35-day itineraries to some of the world’s most sought after destinations that will include overnight stays in Melbourne and Cairns, Australia and Lautoka, Fiji.

Carnival Cruise Line has announced a change to its 2027-28 deployment plan for Galveston. Carnival Sunshine will now homeport in Galveston instead of Carnival Spirit which will now homeport from Tampa. Moving Carnival Sunshine to Galveston will help support the demand for cruising from the Lone Star port.

Norwegian Cruise Line will debut new entertainment when its latest ship, Norwegian Luna, begins sailing in 2026. Two new in-house productions, “Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John” and “HIKO,” are sure to “surprise and delight” the cruise line’s guests.
