This week, we delved into the history of Princess Cruises. Over the next four weeks, we will give an overview of each class of ship in its fleet.

Exciting news coming out of Tampa for a proposed new port in Manatee County. If approved, the new port would open the region to the largest cruise ships for the first time. 

On Monday, January 19, 2026, the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland held the ceremonial steel-cutting ceremony marking the start of construction for Royal Caribbean International’s fifth Icon-class ship, which is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2028.

Beginning in November 2026, MSC Cruises’ MSC Opera will homeport year-round from La Romana in the south of the Dominican Republic. This will be the first time MSC Cruises will offer year-round sailings in the Southern Caribbean.

When Margaritaville at Sea’s Beachcomber debuts from PortMiami in early 2027, she will feature an expanded lineup of bars and lounges. Not only will guests find their favorites, but also a new range of venues offering a “different setting and flavor at every stop.”

The Port of Los Angeles has announced Pacific Cruise Terminals, LLC, a joint venture between Carrix, Inc. and JLC Infrastructure, will develop and operate a new Outer Harbor Cruise Terminal as well as redevelop the current World Cruise Center.
