Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest.
Let’s dive in!
This Monday, we looked a little at the history and background of MSC Cruises. Tomorrow, we will begin diving into the cruise line’s fleet of ships.
Celebrity Cruises has named Janaína Torres, co-owner of A Casa de Porco in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as godmother for Celebrity Xcel. Torres is the first Brazilian chef to be named godmother of a cruise ship and will take part in the cherished maritime tradition of the vessel’s naming ceremony and christening on November 16, 2025.
Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas has repositioned from Port Canaveral to PortMiami to sail short cruises from the Cruise Capital of the World. She will depart on Fridays for her 3-night weekend escapes and Mondays for her 4-night voyages.
Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is also sailing new 3-night getaways from the Port of Palm Beach in Florida. She will offer five “Bahamas Duos” itineraries that will coincide with the cruise line’s “Sail the Haunted Seas” Halloween themed sailings. Additionally, the cruise line is offering a Labor Day Flash sale through September 8, 2025.
Carnival Firenze is repositioning from Long Beach, California to the East Coast in early 2027. She will sail three Carnival Journeys voyages which will circumnavigate South America on her way to PortMiami. Carnival Firenze will sail from PortMiami through May 2027 before repositioning to New York for the summer season.
Royal Carribean’s Legend of the Seas reached a major milestone this past week. The cruise line’s next Icon-class ship was floated out from dry dock at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. She will now move to her next step in construction as she prepares to debut in 2026. The float out also means Meyer Turku can begin work on the next, still unnamed Icon-class ship due in 2027.
