Carnival Cruise Line’s Celebration Key celebrated its one-year anniversary on Sunday, July 19, 2026. The cruise line’s exclusive destination has welcomed 2.4 million guests in its first year after welcoming a staggering 1,000,000 guests in December 2025, just five months after its grand opening.
Within that year, more than 500,000 guests have raced down the waterslides, the Bahamian-owned food truck, Mini Donut King, has served more than 400,000 treats, more than 100,000 Piña Coladas have been sipped, and everyone has enjoyed the lively Junkanoo parades celebrating the Bahamian culture.
“We’ve built something special here at Celebration Key,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Our goal is to create unforgettable memories for our guests, and in its first year, the destination has done exactly that for more than 2 million people. We’re proud to be part of those moments while also creating real, lasting impact in the local community.”
The anniversary was celebrated with a day of festivities for guests who arrived aboard Carnival Conquest and Carnival Freedom. After being welcomed by a giant birthday cake, guests enjoyed a special birthday Junkanoo performance as well as an interactive scavenger hunt.
Celebration Key has also boosted the economy of Grand Bahama by supporting approximately 1,000 year-round local jobs and partnering with local Bahamian business owners. More than 80% of Celebration Key’s shopping and food venues are Bahamian-owned. The destination also supports Carnival Corporation’s Less Left Over food initiative, which recently expanded. Additionally, Carnival Freedom and Carnival Conquest made the first donation to the country when leftover prepared, but unserved, meals were donated to local organizations on Grand Bahama.
Celebration Key also became the first cruise destination to earn a Sensory Inclusive Certification through its partnership with KultureCity, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and accessibility for those with invisible disabilities.
In her statement, Duffy alluded that exciting changes could be in store for Celebration Key when she said, “As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue building on this momentum, creating new experiences for our guests and deepening our commitment to Grand Bahama and its people.” This is after improvements have been made reflecting guests’ recommendations and a pier extension that was opened in June 2026.
