Carnival Cruise Line Shares Details of Currents Zone

As Carnival Cruise Line prepared for Carnival Jubilee’s naming ceremony, the cruise line shared details of the new Currents zone onboard.

Currents is an underwater-themed zone that spans two decks–Decks 6 and 7. Within Currents is “Seaquest: A Fun Sub Adventure.” Seaquest features six huge LED Portals to the Sea and a 100-foot-long wave-like ceiling which is intended to make guests feel like they are in an actual submarine. The experience takes guests on a journey to out-of-this-world locations where they encounter amazing ocean creatures.

Glenn Aprile, senior director of brand experience and product development for Carnival Cruise Line said, “Seaquest is a truly first-of-its-kind experience that brings together the real and fantastical to create an exciting onboard excursion. As they adventure through the world created for Seaquest, guests will see the Carnival Seacation resort, explore a neon glowing grotto, encounter a giant jellyfish school, navigate among cosmic whale sharks and journey to the kingdom of The Golden Mermaid, which helps tell the story behind one of the unique new venues created for Carnival Jubilee.”

One feature of the Currents zone is the “Change the Current” which allows guests to change the zone into six different underwater worlds. Worlds like Antarctica with its penguins and orcas, or colorful coral reefs with its colorful and playful fish and sea turtles, or even coastal mangroves which are home to gators and crabs. Kids will enjoy “Create A Fish” where they can create their own sea creatures and then watch them magically come to life on screen.

In the evenings, Currents transforms into beautiful destinations that guests can enjoy while they relax at Dr. Inks, Ph.D, dine at Emeril’s Bistro 717, or enjoy the live band at The Golden Mermaid. The theme is different each night so guests may see playful neon fish swimming past the Portal to the Sea one night and Dr. Ink’s trendy underwater apartment the next. Guests will also find Soundwaves Jukebox, a music-activated visualizer that brings songs to life through “exciting visuals and colorful light displays.”

Carnival Jubilee is set to host her naming ceremony today, February 24, 2024. She has been sailing 7-night Western Caribbean voyages from Galveston, Texas to Honduras and Mexico.
