Let’s talk about Cruise Loyalty Programs. These programs would be the equivalent of frequent flyer or hotel reward programs where repeated business equals perks and bonuses.
Cruising is no different. Each cruise line has some kind of loyalty program that offers onboard perks and bonuses–everything from free drinks to free cruises.Today we will cover Holland America Line’s Mariner Society.
Holland America Line’s Mariner Society allows you to earn points by cruising and by spending money while onboard. Guests earn one cruise day credit for every night they are on the ship; however, guests staying in a suite or penthouse receive double credits. Guests also receive cruise day credits while on a cruisetour.
Guests can also earn Mariner Society cruise day credits for every $300 spent on board the ship with the limit of one extra cruise day per day. Future cruise deposits, cash advances and casino charges do not count toward purchases, but everything else does.
There are five tiers to the Mariner Society Loyalty Program:
1-Star Mariners (achieved after one sailing) receive:
- Up to $400 onboard credit per stateroom when booking a cruise within 90 days of a new season launch
- A Collectible gift
- A “Mariner Cocktail” voucher which can be used anytime during the cruise
- 50% discount on cruise fares for 3rd/4th guests and free kids on voyages 14 days or less
2-Star Mariners (achieved with 30 cruise day credits) in addition to the above receive:
- A complimentary photo of the ship
- 10% discount on select HAL logo clothing sold onboard
3-Star Mariners (achieved with 75 cruise day credits) in addition to the above receive:
- A discount on select spa treatments
- Mariner Society Welcome Onboard Reception
- 25% discount on Sommelier Suite packages (with some exclusions)
- 25% discount on specialty restaurants and specialty coffees
- 25% discount on mini-bar purchases
4-Star Mariners (achieved with 200 cruise day credits) in addition to the above receive:
- 50% discount on Sommelier Suite packages (with some exclusions)
- 50% discount on specialty restaurants and specialty coffees
- 50% discount on mini-bar purchases
- Complimentary Regional Wine Tasting
- Complimentary laundering and pressing service
- Priority check-in, tendering and disembarkation
- Free cruise fares for 3rd/4th guests on voyages less than 14 days
- 15% discount on HAL Logo clothing sold onboard
- 25% discount of $55.00 per person surcharge in Sel De Mer fleetwide
5-Star Mariners (achieved with 500 cruise day credits) in addition to the above receive:
- Two complimentary dinners at Pinnacle Grill, Tamarind or Canaletto
- Complimentary day pass to the Greenhouse Spa & Salon Thermal Suite
- Up to $30 credit toward an internet package
Once you take a cruise with Holland America Line, you are automatically enrolled in the Mariner Society program. Additionally, guests who have sailed with any of the “World’s Leading Cruise LInes” ship, which includes Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Cunard Line, Seabourn and Costa Cruises, are automatically enrolled when they book with Holland America Line.
