MSC Group Announces New Beach Club in The Bahamas

MSC Group announced one of its subsidiaries, CTL Maritime, has reached an agreement with the Bahamian government to acquire and develop a portion of the Grand Lucayan Resort into a beach club. The 20-acre section of the resort to be redeveloped is currently occupied by The Reef Village and is located in Freeport, Grand Bahamas. Once completed, the beach club will serve passengers of MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.

Bahamas Prime Minister, Philip Davis, stated, ““This agreement represents a defining moment for Grand Bahamas and the future of our island. The redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Resort has long been a national priority, and this step forward speaks to our commitment to restoring Grand Bahama as a leading tourism and investment destination. We welcome Concord Wilshire, CTL Maritime and their partners, and we look ahead with confidence to the jobs, economic activity and new opportunities this project will bring for Bahamians.”

Development is expected to begin April 12, 2026, pending the required environmental approvals and regulatory permits. Construction of the beach club will generate hundreds of jobs, both direct and indirect. Upon completion, the beach club will also produce permanent jobs creating a positive economic impact on the region.

CTL Maritime President Gianluca Suprani said, “This project marks the next phase of our long-term investment strategy in The Bahamas and as a family-owned company, we take a long-term view and when we commit to projects of this nature, we do so with the intention and capability to deliver, focused on creating lasting value for Bahamian communities. When completed, this transformational investment will help to elevate Grand Bahama into one of the region’s most competitive and attractive cruise destinations.”

The beach club is just the latest in an effort by MSC Group to revamp tourism on Grand Bahama. MSC Group is developing a new cruise terminal complex and upgrading the existing area in Freeport Harbor. Also, MSC’s private island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, is being upgraded with more family activities, an adults only retreat and more restaurants, bars and cabanas. Additionally, the cruise line is extending Ocean Cay’s pier to handle two ships, and continuing to work on the development of a second private island.

No details were released about amenities or features for the new MSC Beach Club.
