Following its successful debut in 2025, Carnival Cruise Line is hosting its second annual Summer Fun-ternship Program giving more than 100 high school juniors and seniors, ages 17 and older, an incredible hands-on experience in cruise terminal management at six United States homeports.
The eight-week paid Fun-ternship Program will give young people behind-the-scenes cruise experience while working alongside the port services team during embarkation-day operations. The students will receive hands-on training and mentorship as well as exposure to a variety of roles within the cruise industry giving them the knowledge and skill required to pursue a career in cruise tourism and hospitality, as well as confidence and leadership skills.
“After seeing the enthusiasm, growth and pride of last year’s Fun-terns, we’re excited to bring this opportunity back and continue helping students develop confidence, leadership skills and real-world experience in an industry that plays an important role in their local economy,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Students who wish to apply must reside in one of six US homeports–Baltimore, Tampa, Jackson, Norfolk, New York City, or Long Beach–and “rock” a minimum GPA of 2.0. Those that fill out an application form must also send in a letter of good standing, provide a resume, and a cover letter, and undergo the interview process. If chosen, students will receive a “shipshape” uniform shirt and a rate of pay.
At the end of the Fun-ternship, all students will enjoy a ship tour and a special luncheon celebration with Carnival leaders. Applications are being accepted now through June 8, 2026, with spots limited to up to 15 students per port.
