Celebration Key Earns KultureCity Sensory Inclusion Certification

April is World Autism Acceptance Month, and on April 2, 2026, Carnival Cruise Line announced the Celebration Key, the cruise line’s exclusive destination in Grand Bahama, has become the first cruise destination to earn KultureCity’s sensory inclusion certification. With more than two million guests having visited Celebration Key since its opening in 2025, this industry-first certification highlights Carnival’s commitment to individuals with sensory needs.

Carnival and KultureCity have partnered for the last six years in the training of guest-facing team members to assist guests with invisible disabilities including autism, dementia, PTSD, and sensory processing disorders. The more than 400 guest-facing team members at Celebration Key have also now been trained to assist guests with sensory needs. Guests have access to complimentary sensory bags that contain noise-reducing headphones, fidget tools, filtered glasses and a feelings thermometer for non-verbal guests. Also included is a VIP lanyard that allows Carnival team members to be aware that a guest may need additional help.

“This milestone demonstrates Carnival’s dedication to making vacations accessible and enjoyable for all, including families with sensory processing needs. By training our team members and offering tailored resources both on board and at Celebration Key, we ensure every guest feels supported, understood, and welcome,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

To celebrate the certification, and World Autism Acceptance Month, Celebration Key will have a sensory room pop-up today, April 3, that will offer a calm, controlled environment to help guests with sensory regulation.

“Creating truly inclusive experiences means anticipating the needs of every guest before they arrive—and meeting them with empathy, understanding, and thoughtful support,” said Uma Srivastava, executive director of KultureCity. “By certifying Celebration Key, Carnival Cruise Line is setting a new standard for the travel industry, ensuring that individuals with sensory needs and invisible disabilities can fully participate in and enjoy every moment of their journey.”

On a personal note, this momma heart appreciates the effort from Carnival Cruise Line to make the cruise line inclusive to all. We cruised on Carnival Paradise last spring with my adult daughter with autism. We took the time to check out a KultureCity Sensory Bag from guest services–mostly for the lanyard–and it was a real game changer for my family. It offered peace of mind for me, and the way the crew recognized she needed a little extra help or attention was amazing. You can read more about our experience here.
