Cruise Ship Monday–Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice Class

It’s Monday!

Cruise Ship Monday

Today brings us Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Reflection (2012), Celebrity Silhouette (2011), Celebrity Eclipse (2010), Celebrity Equinox (2009), and Celebrity Solstice (2008).

The Solstice Class is the largest class of ship in Celebrity Cruises’ fleet making up nearly half of the brand’s total capacity. The five ships were built by the Meyer Werft shipyard, carry between 2,850 and 3,000 passengers, and weigh between 122,000 and 126,000 gross tons.

This class of ship has a few features that are unique in the cruising world. For example, the ships feature The Hot Glass Show where they offer live glassblowing demonstrations and guests can find a half-acre of real grass on the top deck called The Lawn Club.

Celebrity Solstice was the first in the fleet to offer the popular AquaClass staterooms which were designed with the wellness-focused passenger in mind. The ship was recently revitalized with eight new experiences–the first ship in the Solstice class to receive the renovations.

The ships feature much of the same dining venues. They each have a main dining room, an Oceanview Café, a Mast Grill, and The Spa Café, and a Sunset Park Cafe. Specialty restaurants include Sushi on Five, and Murano. The ships also offer Blu and Luminae which are exclusive to guests of AquaClass staterooms and guests of The Retreat respectively. Guests will also find Le Petit Chef and Tuscan Grille on every ship except Celebrity Solstice which recently received a new Trattoria Rossa and Fine Cut Steakhouse, while Celebrity Silhouette and Celebrity Reflection also feature The Lawn Club Grill and The Porch.

The Solstice Class ships feature a stylish outdoor pool deck, a glass-enclosed adults-only Solarium pool, and multiple hot tubs. The ships also feature a large spa and a casino. Other entertainment on the Solstice Class ships includes candlelit concerts, and shows in the Solstice theater featuring Smoke and Ivories, which is a 1950s-inspired music and acrobatics show, and Rockumentary, which recreates rock concert performances. Boulevard Lounge features a piano bar, karaoke and game shows. The Parlor offers billiards, darts and board games.

Currently, Celebrity Reflection, Celebrity Silhouette, Celebrity Eclipse  are all sailing itineraries from Port Everglades, Celebrity Equinox  is sailing itineraries between Rome and Barcelona, and Celebrity Solstice is sailing in Asia.
