Royal Caribbean Bringing Back Exclusive Beer

It has been six years, but Royal Caribbean has confirmed via social media it is bringing back its exclusive beer, the Chilla Thrilla, to its private destinations and ships sailing out of the US.

The social media video was captioned, “Hear that? A new tropical sip is calling your name. The Royal Caribbean x Funky Buddha Brewery Chilla Thrilla is a refreshing blonde ale brewed with a splash of mango and guava, perfect for a full day of soaking up the sun,”

In 2019, the drink was produced in partnership with the South Florida-based Funky Buddha Brewery and served exclusively at the cruise line’s private island in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay. Unfortunately, the drink was only available a few months before the shutdown of the cruise industry in 2020. Once Royal Caribbean was able to resume operations, it wasn’t able to continue serving Chilla Thrilla due to supply chain issues.

Most Royal Caribbean cruisers are excited about the prospect of a beer curated for Royal Caribbean with a few sharing photos of when they had the drink in 2019 while at CocoCay. Those guests were also excited the beer would also be offered onboard this time. One guest even shared they had one the previous week while onboard Explorer of the Seas.

Cruisers who are wondering what Royal Caribbean’s Chilla Thrilla beer tastes like, the Funky Buddha Brewery describes the ale as “an ultra-refreshing blonde ale with a crisp body and tropical vibe thanks to its hint of mango and guava” making it the perfect drink for a Perfect Day or even a Royal Day. No matter how you describe it, the drink pairs well with Cuban sandwiches, mango and habanero wings, carnitas tacos, fresh citrus, and stone fruits–all foods cruisers will find at CocoCay.

The beer is crafted and packaged exclusively for Royal Caribbean, and yes, it is included in the cruise line’s drink packages.
