Nassau Cruise Port Breaking Records–Again

For the second year in a row, Nassau Cruise Port has announced it has surpassed its annual cruise guests record by more than one million passengers. In 2022, Nassau Cruise Port welcomed 3.2 million cruise passengers and 4.4 million in 2023. In 2024, The Bahamas welcomed more than 9 million visitors with 5.6 million of those visitors being cruise passengers.

“We are incredibly proud to reach this significant milestone for the second year in a row,” said Mike Maura Jr., CEO of Nassau Cruise Port. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication and collaboration of our talented team, our valued partners and the Bahamian people. We could not have reached this point without the unwavering support of our stakeholders, including the government of The Bahamas, our cruise line partners, local businesses and the community at large. Together, we are shaping the future of Bahamian tourism, and I am excited to see the continued growth of Nassau Cruise Port as a gateway to The Bahamas and a source of opportunity for all.”

This influx in visitors has contributed approximately $2.6 billion in tourism revenue which benefits local businesses including retailers, restaurants, tour operators and artisans. Additionally, the growth of the cruise port has increased the demand for jobs.

“Our success story is far from over,” Maura, Jr. said. “The future promises even more growth for The Bahamas and its residents, and more incredible Authentically Bahamian experiences for our visitors from around the world.”

The cruise port has future plans for expansion and improvement. The improvements include enhanced cruise facilities, transportation to areas throughout New Providence, family-oriented experiences, additional dining options, and downtown-centered projects that will improve the visitor experience.

The Bahamian cruise port includes six berths with the ability to accommodate the largest cruise ships in the world. The port features over 60 retail stores including food and beverage outlets, the Bahamas Museum of Junkanoo, a wine bar and art gallery, and an amphitheater.
