2025 Cruise News Recap–Part Three

Day 3!

It’s the last day of the official Cruise News Recap!

In a short time, we will welcome 2026, but in the meantime, let’s finish 2025!

Here we go!

In September…

Celebrity River Cruises opened Priority Booking Access for the 2027 sailings on Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker, two of the 10 transformative river cruising ships they have on order. Bookings were opened to the public a few weeks later.

MSC Cruises introduced an industry first–Playtech’s sports betting onboard several of its ships.

Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Adventure was delayed, but it was announced that Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas was debuting early.

Royal Caribbean Group announced it reached a long-term framework agreement with Meyer Turku, securing building rights at the shipyard through 2036. 

In October…

Princess Cruises announced Matthew and Camilla McConaughey as godparents of its newest ship, Star Princess.

MSC Cruises announced MSC Magnifica would undergo an extensive refurbishment that will include adding the cruise line’s ship-within-a-ship experience–the MSC Yacht Club. When she sails the 2027 World Cruise, she will be the first to feature the exclusive option.

PortMiami welcomed Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady and Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth for the first time.

Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas returned to Singapore.

And, Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Adventure received a Storybook Castle.

In November…

Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas debuted in Sydney, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Gem arrived at JAXPORT, and Princess Cruises’ Star Princess was christened at Port Everglades. Tony was there!

Royal Caribbean brought back its exclusive beer–the Chilla Thrilla. It had been missing since 2020.

And, the launch of Carnival Rewards was extended.

In December…

It was announced that Port Canaveral surpassed PortMiami as the busiest cruise port in the world. 

With MSC World Asia to debut in just 12 short months, the cruise line gave us 12 highlights of the third state-of-the-art World Class ship.

Tony announced he’s hosting a trip to Ireland in June 2026!!

MSC Cruises placed an order for a new class of ships–New Frontier.

And, Princess Cruises christened its Tournament of Roses Parade float, which you can see tomorrow during the 137th annual Rose Parade.

We have come to the end of 2025 and are looking forward to a great year of cruising in 2026.
